December 23, 2015 - The "Matthew's Hope Gives Back" campaign, launched six months ago, helped to paint the home of a former Winter Garden police officer struggling with mounting bills from a sick child. It built and stocked a food pantry at West Orange High School and built an arbor for Gotha Middle School. It provided a Santa-for-a-day, food and presents to low-income and special-needs children. And it created Christmas for the developmentally disabled adults of Orlando's Primrose Center, where Miss Mimi lives.
December 1, 2015 - Primrose becomes an Amazon Prime Partner! When you place an order on Amazon, be sure to use the AMAZON SMILE-Primrose Center Charity link and help us generate donations when you buy. Amazon Prime donates .5% of all eligible purchases to the Primrose Center.
November 10, 2015 - We’d like to thank our long-time community partner: Red Lobster for providing Primrose Center with generous donations of food throughout the year. Our volunteer team picks the food up at the Red Lobster headquarters in downtown Orlando and the food is delivered to our residential facilities providing delicious and easy to serve meals for Primrose residents.
October 24, 2015 - Thank you to all who joined us on Saturday October 24th from 1pm to 6pm at Primrose Center for an afternoon of Fall Fun. Admission of only $5.00 included: Carnival Games, Face Painting, Pictures and more!
October 10, 2015 - About 100 volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints put on their gardening gloves to fix up landscaping and repaint the seven-building campus. They even got on ladders to knock down a leaky roof and repaired the leaking water pipes.
September 2015 - Can you find all the hidden Nike Swooshes in this mural? Thank you to Primrose Center community partner, Nike for sending a volunteer team out to create this great mural in our recreation area. Clients and their families love spending time here.
September 2015 - The Primrose community is comprised of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who are currently or have in the past been involved in a Primrose Program. Through the generosity of community partners and the creativity of our staff we host monthly events for those we serve. These events provide opportunities for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities to enjoy social interaction as well as participate in leisure and recreational activities.
August 2015 - Rita Marullo from Adriana’s Attic is still super couponing on our behalf. Please assist us by bringing in coupons you are not using. Don’t forget those Sunday Coupons! We have been able to keep our shelves stocked with all kinds of helpful items. There is a big pink coupon box in the front time clock room at the main office on Fern Creek to put the coupons in, or you can send them in with someone. Adriana’s Attic has been donating a large amount of products such as food for the cafeteria and laundry detergent, both purchased by Super Couponing.
July 2015 - Thank you to Kiwanis Action Club for their ongoing support of Primrose Center. Their team joins us monthly for meetings, providing an opportunity for the members who have developmental and intellectual disabilities to learn leadership skills and to serve their community by helping others.
June 2015 - Consistent fundraising efforts are crucial to continue the important work we are
doing in the Central Florida community. Our fundraising team is always looking for unique ways to raise additional funds to support our programs and services. In June we kicked off a Shoe Drive. We collect all kinds of shoes in any condition and are paid by the pound for them. Our partner organization then
refurbishes them for distribution in third world countries. A Win-Win!
May 2015 - Primrose Center is a 501c3 organization that provides training, employment and residential services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Working from our office in Orlando, we raise funds through grants, events and other initiatives within the Central Florida community. It is with great care and deep respect with which we manage our financial obligations ensuring that we are maximizing every opportunity to support our mission.
April 2015 - Primrose Industries provides program participants with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to obtain employment in the community, while earning a paycheck. Area businesses sub-contract with Primrose Industries and we provide quality work, a quick turn around, and at a fair market price. In April our team assembled 700 gift bags and assisted with mailings for Darden and Red Lobster. We also did book labeling for Visit Orlando and compiled seminar notebooks for Minute Man Press.
March 2015 - The team at Primrose enjoyed two special events in March: a St. Patrick's Day Party as well as an Italian themed Spaghetti fundraiser. Our events offer opportunities for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities to enjoy social interaction as well as participate in leisure and recreational activities.
February 2015 - The American Community Gardening Association released a study that says community gardening projects have developmental benefits for children and adults and that they effect stress reduction and impact group identity and bonding. Thank you to our volunteer HORTICULTURIST, Lorri Kolcycki who has been spending her spare time digging and planting at Primrose. We are also grateful to our green-community partners: Universal Orlando, Seaworld and The Fresh Market, for providing us with a steady supply of plants and gardening supplies.
